Two countries, two great cities and one of the world's most powerful waterfalls, all in a week. Buenos Aires comes first. On night one you'll learn to make empanadas and dulce de leche with a welcome glass of Malbec, then spend day two touring Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo and La Boca before a live tango show in the evening.
Next, a flight north to Puerto Iguazú. The falls straddle the Argentina–Brazil border, and you'll see them from both sides: the Devil's Throat walkway on the Argentine side and the wide panoramas from the Brazilian walkways. In between there's a jungle adventure park, dinner on an organic farm and a food market with mate and local craft beer.
Rio closes the trip. Take the train up to Christ the Redeemer and the cable car to Sugarloaf, go out for street food, and raise a caipirinha at a farewell dinner by Ipanema beach. Six dinners are included along the way, so evenings with the group are easy.
Why This Journey
Argentina and Brazil sit side by side but feel worlds apart, and this route lets you feel the switch: from the European cafés, tango halls and Malbec of Buenos Aires to the rainforest and thundering water of Iguazú, and on to Rio's beaches, samba and caipirinhas.
Seeing Iguazú from both borders is something few independent travelers fit into a short trip, and here the flights, crossings and timings are handled for you. It suits travelers who want a fast-moving first taste of South America, and solo travelers who'd like good company at every dinner.

Group itinerary
Touch down in Buenos Aires, where a private transfer brings you to your hotel.
In the evening, meet your Soca Islands Host and the group over a glass of Malbec, then get hands-on in a cooking class. With good local ingredients and a chef guiding you, you'll make empanadas and dulce de leche desserts, with regional wines to go with them.
A guided tour shows you the Buenos Aires essentials: Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada, the cobbled lanes and antique shops of San Telmo, and the painted houses and street art of La Boca.
Lunch is at a traditional spot where Spanish, Italian and local cooking meet on the plate.
Tonight, dress up a little for a live tango show. The music, footwork and precision are something to see.
Fly north to Puerto Iguazú, the base for exploring a system of some 275 waterfalls on the Iguazú River.
This afternoon is for adrenaline: ziplines, elevated walkways and a descent alongside jungle cascades.
Dinner is at an organic farm, where tropical fruit comes straight from the trees.
Walk into Iguazú National Park with a guide to the Devil's Throat viewpoint, where the spray and the roar make the power of the water very real.
Later, graze your way through a jungle market: small plates, a round of mate and regional craft beer.
Cross into Brazil for the other side of the falls. Here the walkways open onto long, sweeping panoramas of the whole curtain of water.
Then it's a flight to Rio de Janeiro and check-in near one of its famous beaches.
Tonight, head out on a street food walk and get a feel for the city's rhythm.
A scenic train carries you up through the Tijuca forest to Christ the Redeemer for the classic view across the city.
Next comes the cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain, with the bay, beaches and skyline spread out below.
For your last night, the group gathers for dinner by Ipanema beach, with caipirinhas, music and a well-earned toast.
Enjoy breakfast, then transfer to Rio de Janeiro's international airport (GIG) for your flight home or onward.
In a single week you'll have covered two countries, one of the world's great waterfalls and two of South America's most exciting cities.
