This is a full circuit of Basse-Terre's highlights, paced for a small group and adjusted to what the group wants more of. Over ten hours you'll hike to a waterfall, look out toward the neighboring islands, stop at a volcanic beach and finish with a swim and a sunset drink at the Cousteau Reserve.
Along the way there's an avenue of more than 400 royal palms, Carbet Falls deep in the rainforest, warm natural hot springs and views of La Grande Soufrière, the island's volcano.
Plan on walking, swimming and snorkeling, with snorkel gear provided and a chance to taste local cooking along the way. What makes the day different: professional photography and drone video are part of it, so you come home with shots of the group at the falls and the coastline seen from above.
Why This Journey
Basse-Terre is Guadeloupe's wild, mountainous half, and seeing its waterfalls, rainforest, volcanic coast and marine reserve in one day would normally take a lot of planning. Here it's laid out in a single loop, finishing in the water at the Cousteau Reserve as the sun goes down.
It suits active travelers who want to see as much of the island's nature as possible, and anyone who'd like professional photos and drone video of the day to take home.
Good to Know
