Vincy Mas, St. Vincent's carnival, is a celebration of music, dance and artistic expression that builds over about two months and peaks in late June and early July. Its calendar takes in the Miss SVG competition, the Calypso Monarch, the King and Queen of Carnival, the Parade of the Bands and a long run of private fetes.

Until 1977 Vincy Mas was a pre-Lenten carnival, rooted in the Catholic custom of a last indulgence before Lent; the word carnival is often traced to the Latin 'carne vale'. Early celebrations were mostly private parties and balls held by European settlers, and over time the festival absorbed African traditions brought by freed people, which shaped the street carnival Vincentians celebrate today.

This trip covers Carnival's final week. You'll sail out to the Tobago Cays Marine Park, fete at Pumpin, Crush and Happy Mess, brunch at Flair, spend a day at the Wett Republic beach party, jump in J'ouvert and Tee Shirt Mas, and finish in full costume on Carnival Tuesday in Kingstown.

Fete tickets, costume coordination and pickup, individual costume photography, group transport and airport transfers are arranged for you, and daily breakfast is included.

Why This Journey

Vincy Mas is smaller and more personal than the region's biggest carnivals, and that's much of its appeal: the fetes feel like a community gathering, and the road in Kingstown belongs to Vincentians and the visitors they welcome. Adding a day in the Grenadines gives you some of the Caribbean's clearest water between parties.

Travelling with Soca Islands means fete tickets, costume collection and late-night transport are handled, and you have a small group to share it with from day one. It suits carnival regulars looking for a new island, first-timers who want a friendly introduction, and anyone who wants sea, sun and soca in one week.

We believe solo travelers shouldn’t have to pay extra to explore the world. That’s why our group trips are designed around shared accommodation and do not include a single supplement. Solo travelers joining our group trips are paired in twin or multi-share rooms with another traveler of the same sex for the duration of the trip.

Some of our Independent trips are structured differently. For these itineraries, solo travelers will need to book at the single occupancy rate.
