Gift Card Terms
These terms apply to Soca Islands travel gift cards bought through socaislands.com or issued by our team. Buying or using a gift card means accepting them. The version of these terms in force on the day a card is bought is the version that applies to it, so changing this page does not change the terms of a card already issued.
What a gift card is
A Soca Islands gift card is prepaid credit, held in your name, that can be put towards the cost of any trip we operate. It is not a booking, a reservation or a ticket for a particular trip, and it does not hold a place on one. Availability is whatever it is when the person holding the card comes to book.
It does not expire
Purchased gift card value does not expire. The balance stays available until it is used. We will not charge dormancy, inactivity, service or maintenance fees against it.
Currency
Gift cards are issued and redeemed in US dollars.
How to use one
Book a trip in the usual way and send us the gift card code, or contact us before booking and we will help. We apply the card to the balance of the booking and confirm what is left. More than one gift card can be used on a single booking.
If the trip costs more than the card
The difference is payable in the normal way, by the usual deposit and instalment schedule for that trip. Most cards cover part of a trip rather than all of it.
If the trip costs less than the card
Only the amount owed is taken, and the remainder stays on the card for a future booking. A gift card is never spent down to nothing before its value has been used.
It cannot be exchanged for cash
Gift cards are not refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash, except where the law requires otherwise. If something has gone wrong — the wrong amount, the wrong recipient, a card sent in error — write to us and we will put it right.
Passing it on, and keeping it safe
A gift card is meant to be given away, and the code may be passed on. We treat whoever presents a valid code as entitled to use it, so treat the code like cash. If you believe a code has been lost or seen by someone else, tell us at once: we can cancel an unused card and issue a replacement, but we cannot recover value that has already been redeemed.
If a booking paid for with a gift card is cancelled
The usual cancellation terms for that trip apply. Where a refund is due under those terms, the part that was paid with a gift card is returned as gift card credit rather than as cash.
Cards we can cancel
We may cancel a gift card, without notice, where it was bought fraudulently, where the payment for it is reversed or charged back, or where the card is being used in breach of these terms. If a card has already been redeemed when that happens, we may recover the value from the booking it was applied to.
The rest of our terms still apply
A trip booked with a gift card is subject to our Customer Terms and Conditions of Service and our Customer Participation Agreement, in the same way as any other booking.
