Amsterdam packs a lot into a compact, walkable center. Its 17th-century canal ring is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the streets around it mix old merchants' houses with markets, design shops and bike lanes that never seem to empty.
Over four days and three nights you'll cruise the canal ring by boat, spend an afternoon at the Van Gogh Museum, head out to a village of working windmills near Zaandam and learn to make stroopwafels by hand. A welcome evening of Dutch cheese and wine, plus two group dinners, give everyone time around the table together.
The group stays together in one central hotel for all three nights, so there's no repacking, and your Soca Islands Host handles the airport transfers, the timings and the bookings. Groups are kept small, from 6 to 16 travelers.
Between the planned moments, there's space to set your own pace: a canal-side stroll, a market lunch, or an afternoon café break watching the city go by. It's an easy first taste of the Netherlands, especially if you're traveling solo.
Why This Journey
Amsterdam rewards people who slow down, but on a short trip it's easy to spend half your time working out tickets, routes and where to eat. Here the essentials are already in place: museum entry, the canal cruise, the countryside trip and two dinners with the group, leaving your energy for the city itself.
It suits first-time visitors, solo travelers who'd like company without a packed schedule, and anyone who wants a long weekend in Europe that feels sociable rather than rushed. You'll leave knowing the canals, the Jordaan and the Nine Streets well enough to come back on your own.

Group itinerary
Land at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), where your transfer is waiting to take you into the city center. After check-in there's time for a first walk along the nearest canals, or a rest if you've flown overnight.
In the early evening the group meets over wine and a spread of classic Dutch cheeses and charcuterie, an easy way to put names to faces. From there everyone heads out together for the welcome dinner.
Start the morning on two wheels, the way most Amsterdammers get around. An optional guided bike ride follows quiet canal-side streets and leafy neighborhoods at an easy pace. If you'd rather stay on foot, your Soca Islands Host will suggest a good walking route instead.
Lunch is at your own pace and your own cost. In the afternoon you'll visit the Van Gogh Museum, which holds the largest collection of the painter's work, from his early drawings in muted earth tones to the bright, restless canvases of his final years in France.
As the light softens, the group boards a boat for a cruise along the canal ring, passing gabled merchants' houses, arched bridges and moored houseboats. The evening is free: the Jordaan and the Nine Streets are full of small bars, brown cafés and places to eat.
Leave the city for a half-day in the countryside at a village of working windmills and historic wooden houses by the water near Zaandam. Watch the mills turn, wander the lanes and take in the flat, open landscape that Dutch painters made famous.
Back in Amsterdam, roll up your sleeves for a stroopwafel workshop and learn how the country's favorite sweet treat comes together: two thin waffles pressed around warm caramel syrup. Eating your work is encouraged.
Tonight the group sits down together for a farewell dinner, trading favorite moments from the trip and, more often than not, plans for the next one.
One last breakfast together, then check out and say goodbye to the friends you've made. Your transfer takes you back to Schiphol for your flight home.
We recommend booking an afternoon or evening flight. That leaves time for a final coffee by the canals, a last museum visit or some shopping in the Nine Streets before you go.
