Baja California Sur is where the desert runs straight into the sea. This five-day trip takes you from the galleries and plazas of San José del Cabo up the Pacific coast to Todos Santos and on to La Paz, on the calmer shores of the Sea of Cortez.

You'll start in San José del Cabo, where the first afternoon is free for the historic center, the galleries or a beach club, before welcome drinks and dinner with the group. Next day, drive north along the coast to Todos Santos for a group lunch among its galleries and cafés, then carry on to La Paz, where an evening food walk introduces the city one bite at a time.

La Paz is your base for the rest of the trip. A full day on the water takes you to Espíritu Santo Island to snorkel with sea lions, with lunch on board and time on Balandra Beach. The following day is yours, with an optional whale shark swim in season, before a farewell dinner.

Why This Journey

Most visitors to Los Cabos never leave the resort strip. This trip shows the quieter Baja: a colonial town center, a surf village known for its artists, and a waterfront city where locals walk the Malecón at sunset and sea lions play off the islands just offshore.

It's short enough for a long weekend, with one big day on the water, one free day to choose your own pace and three evenings shared with the group. A good fit for first-timers to Mexico and anyone who'd rather snorkel than sit by a pool.

Where You'll Stay

San José del Cabo (1 night): Casa Natalia Boutique Hotel, in the historic center. La Paz (3 nights): Baja Club Hotel, on the Malecón. Proposed accommodation (or similar), subject to confirmation. Prices are based on two people sharing a double room with two beds.

Group itinerary

Welcome to Baja California Sur. Once you land in San José del Cabo and check in, the afternoon is open: walk the historic center around the plaza and mission church, look into the art galleries, or claim a lounger at a beach club nearby.

This evening you'll meet your Soca Islands Host and the group for welcome drinks and an easygoing dinner full of local flavor.

Meals: Dinner Overnight in San José del Cabo

Hit the road this morning for a coastal drive north to Todos Santos, a surf town known for its creative streak and its desert-and-ocean scenery. The group has lunch here before the drive continues to La Paz.

After checking in, head out with a guide once it's dark for a walking food tour, tasting local dishes as the city comes alive in the evening.

Spend the whole day at sea. A boat takes you to Espíritu Santo Island, a protected nature reserve, where you'll snorkel with curious sea lions, eat lunch on board and then stretch out on the white sand and shallow turquoise water of Balandra Beach.

You're back by late afternoon. Dinner is on your own, whether that's tacos along the Malecón or an early night.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Overnight in La Paz

No schedule today. Spend it on the beach, around the markets and cafés, or book a whale shark swim if you're here in season (optional).

Tonight the group reunites for a farewell dinner and one more round of Baja stories.
