Tobago is small enough to loop in a day, and this route shows you both of its faces: the wilder Atlantic side and the calmer Caribbean coast.

You'll start with history at Fort King George, taste cocoa straight from the tree at Tobago Cocoa Estate and look out over the islands off Speyside, passing fishing villages on the way.

Then the day slows right down in Charlotteville, where a boat takes you to Pirates Bay to swim and snorkel before a Caribbean lunch, followed by Pink Sand Beach, which you can only reach by boat.

The afternoon heads back by road along the Caribbean side, reaching Crown Point around sunset. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so you just need your swimsuit and a sense of adventure.

Why This Journey

Most visitors stay around Crown Point and never see the island's northeast. This tour takes you the whole way round, from Fort King George and a cocoa estate to two boat-access beaches at the far tip, and brings you back for sunset.

It suits first-time visitors who want to understand Tobago beyond the beach, and anyone who likes a full day with a mix of history, food and swimming.

Good to Know

The tour lasts about 8 hours and 30 minutes, with pickup and drop-off at your hotel. Bring swimwear for Pirates Bay and Pink Sand Beach.

Group itinerary

The day begins above Scarborough at Fort King George, one of the island's best-kept historic sites. Cannons dating to the 1770s still point out to sea, and the ramparts give you a wide view of the Atlantic coast.

At Tobago Cocoa Estate you'll wander through the cocoa groves, step inside a traditional cocoa house and learn how the pods become chocolate. You can taste a raw bean too, as long as the local parrots have left you some.

Farther along, the Speyside lookout faces Goat Island, where Ian Fleming once lived, and Little Tobago, a protected sanctuary for seabirds. On the way you'll pass fishing villages, spot Jemma's treehouse and see the remains of an old waterwheel.

Charlotteville, at the island's northern tip, is where the day slows down. A short boat hop brings you to Pirates Bay for swimming and snorkeling, followed by a local Caribbean lunch.

Next, the boat takes you on to Pink Sand Beach (Lovers Bay), which you can only reach from the water.

The return runs down the Caribbean coast with the sun dropping toward the sea, ending at Crown Point with drop-off at your hotel.

Yes. If you arrive on Day 1 of your adventure or book pre-tour accommodation with us, your airport arrival transfer is included. If you choose alternative pre-tour accommodation or arrive by another mode of transport, you’ll need to arrange your own arrival transfer.

Our arrival transfers are private to Soca Islands and are organised in groups based on flight times. Sometimes this means a short wait at the airport until other flights arrive.

There are no scheduled activities on the final day, so feel free to book your departure at your own convenience.

We recommend arriving before 3 pm on Day 1 to make it in time for the welcome event. But don’t worry no matter when you land, we’ll have an airport transfer ready for you.

We believe solo travelers shouldn’t have to pay extra to explore the world. That’s why our group trips are designed around shared accommodation and do not include a single supplement. Solo travelers joining our group trips are paired in twin or multi-share rooms with another traveler of the same sex for the duration of the trip.

Some of our Independent trips are structured differently. For these itineraries, solo travelers will need to book at the single occupancy rate.

Tips are not included in the cost of this tour. Remember, tipping is entirely at your discretion and based on what you feel comfortable with.
